Junior Flames Claim Bronze

The Croft Sports Centre in Swindon played host to the South of England Junior Skater Hockey tournament on Sunday 23 July. Teams from across the region competed in a thrilling day’s hockey and the Junior Swindon Flames claimed third place after defeating teams from Reading, Wheatley Park (Oxford) and North Wiltshire (Chippenham). Eventual winners were Ash Avalanche from Surrey who defeated the London Street Warriors in the final.

The Flames got off to a slow start and were defeated by the eventual tournament winners Ash Avalanche 4-1. A hard earned 2-1 victory over Wheatley Wildcats was followed by another closely fought encounter with the tournament runners-up the London Street Warriors who ran out 6-4 winners. The Flames then got back to winning ways with an impressive 4-2 win over Reading Rhinos before securing third place by defeating the North Wilts Vikings 4-0.

Thanks go to all involved in making the day such a success including our tournament sponsors “The Plough Inn” at Badbury.
