Ian Houston - Testimonial

Saturday 22 July 2006:

In honour of almost ten years service to the Swindon Flames and in recognition of his outstanding contribution, a club-day and testimonial was held on behalf of Ian Houston.

"Houstie" is the club's longest serving player and coach and following his decision to retire from league hockey at the end of this season it was fitting that the club should honour him by way of a testimonial. Players from all age groups, past and present, joined Houstie for a great day at the Croft Sports Centre. Games were played throughout the day from beginners through to seniors and the highlight of the day was the final match between "The Houstie Legends" and 2006 Mustangs. A thrilling 4-4 draw resulted from a game which climaxed with a final two minute period involving all 26 players on the pitch at the same time!

It was great to see so many old faces back at the Croft enjoying their hockey and there wasn't a dry eye in the house after Houstie made his emotional farewell speech.

Thanks to all those involved in making it such a great day but the biggest thank you goes to Houstie for his outstanding commitment and contribution to the club.
