Youth Nationals - 5th Place

After a very difficult first draw against Norton Cyclones on the Saturday morning, and missing a key defender, we all realised it was going to be a tough game, and it was, losing to the cyclones emphatically. But after such a difficult start the players rallied together and went on to Draw against Borehamwood, and then went on to defeat Eastbourne quite conclusively finishing the first day on a high.
 
As we went into Sunday knowing we had to beat Brighton to try and claim a semi-final spot, the players where psyched up, and the result showed, as we laid waste to the SASH league winners, beating them 6-1. It was now all down to goal difference, which unfortunately didn't go our way, this left us with our final game against the Warriors to clinch a fifth or sixth spot.
 
We started the game strong, holding our opponents to a 0-0 stalemate at half time, but in the 2nd half it was the warriors that struck first blood, scoring 3 un-answered goals. But the sheer determination from the players, which we had seen all weekend, pulled it back to 3-3 with under 2 minutes to go, a final all out push gave us the result we deserved, as we scored the winning goal leaving the Warriors broken.
 
All in all an excellent weekend was had by the players, parents and coaches, and a well deserved result to top it all off, bring on next year :)
