TEAM TRIALS FOR 2009 Due to increasing popularity and an expanding membership, The Swindon Flames are hoping to field a Peewee team, two Youth teams, two Junior teams and two Senior teams in 2009 and are now actively looking to recruit new players in all age groups in preparation for next year’s season. The Flames invite old and new players to their annual team trials for 2009 Teams. The trials will be held at the Croft Sports Centre as follows – Peewee (U-12s) Saturday, November 29th, 13.00hrs – 14.30hrs Youths (U-15s) Saturday, November 29th, 14.30hrs – 16.00hrs. Juniors (U-18s) Friday, November 21st, 6pm - 8pm. Seniors (Over 18s) Tuesday, November 25th 21.00hrs - 22.30hrs at The Grange Drive Community Centre, Stratton, Swindon For new players wishing to try-out for any of the above teams, please contact Nigel Davies, on 07899 917572. Skater Hockey is an off-ice version of ice hockey, played in local sports halls. Like ice hockey, it is a contact sport, but is played with a ball as opposed to a puck. Both former skater hockey players and ice hockey players are welcome at the training sessions/try-outs. For the latter, the costs of skater hockey are substantially less than those of ice hockey. Swindon Skater Hockey Club trains on Saturdays (Friday evenings for the Juniors) at the Croft Recreation Centre where all new players, regardless of experience or ability, are always welcome. For those that wish to give it a try for the first time, the club run beginners sessions from 12.00hrs – 13.00hrs on Saturdays and the club can provide some loan equipment for novice with the exception of skates – so please bring your own.
