S.A.S.H END OF SEASON PRESENTATIONS The Southern Area Skater Hockey (SASH) league drew to a close on Sunday on what has been another successful season for the Swindon Skater Hockey Club with the Peewee, Youth and Junior Flames teams all qualifying for the 2007 BISHA British National Championships. The Flames Peewee team lifted the league runners up trophy and as such qualified for the 2007 National Championships in Hastings. Peewee captain Jack Townsend won the award for the highest goal-scorer in the 2007 SASH Peewee league and was also chosen as a SASH 2007 Dream Team forward. The team also won the league’s 2007 fair play award. The Swindon Flames Youth team finished their season in third position and also qualified for National Championships in their age group, to be held in Rotherham, Yorkshire next weekend. Youth Captain Hannah Archer and Youth netminder, Adam Rose both received the accolade of being chosen for the SASH 2007 Youth Dream Team and Flames Youth coach, John Devine, was also voted in as the 2007 Dream Team coach. The Club’s Junior Flames also finished in third spot in the league and will play in the Junior Nationals in Bisley, Surrey over the weekend of the 10th November. Shaun Davies, Junior Flames captain, together with Rebecca Lewis, were selected for the SASH 2007 Junior Dream Team. Club chairman, Les Satchell, said, “The club continues to develop into one of the top skater hockey clubs in the country and the hard work by the players and coaches alike has been rewarded by the fact that the club’s teams have qualified for the BISHA National Championships at all age groups. This shows the strength in depth at the club and is a testament to the success of the ongoing development programme being run in Swindon”.
