SWINDON FLAMES SECURE SERVICES OF TOP COACHING CONSULTANT
Swindon Skater Hockey Club are delighted to announce that, in line with their ongoing development efforts, they have secured the services of Mark Beggs, as a coaching consultant for the Swindon Flames. Mark, undoubtedly one of the top Ice Hockey coaches in the UK, was the Swindon Junior Ice Hockey Head Coach from 1997 to 2007 where he lead the club to unprecedented success, winning five EIHA Best Junior Development Awards and many league championship title in all ages groups. Mark is currently the England U19’s Ice Hockey Coach as well as the EIHA’s mentor coach for the South West region and a prospect advisor to Elite and English Premier Ice Hockey teams and the Hill Academy in Canada. Mark’s role within the Flames is that of a mentor to the club’s existing and new coaches and will see him develop and oversee the successful implementation of a new coaching strategy throughout the whole club. Commenting on his appointment Mark said, “ This is an excellent opportunity for me to work with an established programme which I am looking forward to developing even further. Inline hockey is a fantastic sport which has many cross-over skills to ice hockey and I am looking forward to working with The Flames”. Speaking on behalf of the club, Deputy Chairman, Nigel Davies, said “ The club are absolutely delighted to welcome Mark on board in what we see as a crucial role for the development of both the club and it’s members. Mark brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise and his vision and desire to ensure the very best development programme for our coaches is going to be of huge benefit to the whole club”. Mark joins The Flames at an exciting time for the club following the recent success of the Junior Flames in the 2008 European Championships and the expansion of the club with the formation of both a Senior squad and a new Peewee development team and Swindon Skater Hockey Club would warmly welcome all and any support from local businesses and/or organisations.
