GB Honours for Juniors

  

Swindon Skater Hockey Club are proud to announce that their junior players Jamie Baker and John Spence have been awarded national honours with his selection to the Great Britain, under 18’s, Skater Hockey squad.

The national team will be competing in the IISHF European Junior Championships, which are to be held in Iserlohn, Germany on the 18th & 19th September 2010. They will be facing off against national sides from across Europe. The Great Britain team will be hoping to improve on last year’s performance where they finished in the Silver medal position, losing out to Germany 8-7 in the last minute of the final

Jamie, who began playing hockey with the Peewee 12s said, “It’s a great honour to be asked to represent my country and I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to play hockey at the highest level”.

Swindon Skater Hockey Club Secretary Nigel Davies, said “It’s a fantastic achievement for Jamie and John and well deserved. As a club we’re proud that they have  been selected and we all wish them well in the Championships and we’re confident that they will prove to be a valuable members of the National team. This is the third year running that we have had representatives in the national team, which is a testament to the junior development programme being run by the club.”.
