Sports Awards 2007 3rd place for Team Awards Runners Up for Young Sports Personality
Swindon Skater Hockey Club success during 2007 has been recognised in the Swindon Advertiser Sports Awards 2007.
Shaun Davies, was voted Runners Up in the Young Sports Personality of the Year, ending a superb year for the U18s team captain, which saw him being for Team Great Britain, which won the bronze medal at the European Championships.
In the Team of the Year Award Section, Swindon Flames were voted into 3rd place.
Club Chairman, Les Satchell said " The results are a terrific achievement for the club, especially as in both award categories, there were very good nominations from main stream sports such as football and rugby. It is great that our sport has been recognised in this way, and we would like to thank the Swindon Advertiser, and the public in Swindon who voted for the awards, for supporting our club."
121207 Swindon Skater Hockey Club success during 2007 has been recognised in the Swindon Advertiser Sports Awards 2007, with two nominations. The Swindon league teams, Peewee (U12s), Youth (15s) and Junior (U18s) are one of six teams to have been nominated for the Team of the Year Award. Other nominees are: Swindon Town FC, Swindon Robins Speedway Team, Swindon Supermarine FC, Walcot ABC and the Esprit Gymnastic Academy. Swindon Junior Captain Shaun Davies has also been nominated for the Swindon Young Sports Personality 2007. Club chairman, Les Satchell, said, “ 2007 has been a magnificent year for The Swindon Flames with all our teams performing with distinction at both regional and national level in every age group, with our Junior team securing a national top three ranking. Shaun Davies has had a tremendous season, culminating in his selection for Team Great Britain, which won the bronze medal at the European Championships. We have continued to develop into one of the top skater hockey clubs in the country and our continuing success is a credit to the hard work of all those involved in Swindon Skater Hockey Club, from the coaches and managers to the players and their parents. With the our newly formed Senior squad and the addition of another Peewee team the club continues to go from strength to strength and it is a measure of the success of the ongoing development programme being run throughout the club that we have been recognised in this award scheme.”
